Laurie, sorry for the delay in answering your query. I was waiting for Admin to answer you, but he has had some trouble with phone lines etc of late. So I will jump in.

Please be assured that Pokie Magic would never be involved in the selling of email addresses or anything of the kind.

Privacy is of paramount importance to the Team. Yours and theirs.

It doesn't take much, laurie. I joined up with a website to download a video card driver.
Next thing I know I am getting 132 emails a day, all about bloody porn and teen sex and stuff like that.
Luckily I used my dump email address when I signed up.

If you can, create a second email address (using Hotmail or Yahoo or whatever) and, if you need to sign up for something on the net, use that second email addy. That way, if you get junk mail, it goes to the junk address, not the good one.

Oh..and I used my GOOD email address for Pokie Magic..and have still not got any junk mail using that email address.

I can assure you all that your email addresses have NOT been sold, rented, leased, donated, given, lost, eaten or otherwise disposed of in any way by Pokie Magic.

It really is too easy on the internet to inadvertently
answer yes to a question and subsequently get thrown
onto a spamming list. When will the marketing industry
wake up and understand no-one reads that crap. I have
personally downloaded spambuster to nuke the spam. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif

I heard that most E-mails are found by spammers are usually computer generated. Almost like a search engine.

Example: say a string of letters and numbers like S1m0@suchandsuch.com can be easilly found by spammers as Symo@suchandsuch.com.
I saw this on the news a few weeks ago. It shocked the hell out of me to see just how easy our private e-mails are found.

Symo, It wouldn't surprise me if they trawl on hotmail
and yahoo as these probably give them the most material
to work with ! But is indeed scary to think this may be
possible. If it weren't so painful,
we should probably change our email addresses more often.

Hey paul, Are those spambusters any good?

Macoz

Definately Symo, from what I have seen, as and when you get
key words that you know will be either spam and anything
you do not want to open, you program it in and spambuster
will immediately recognise it and give you an opportunity to
delete. I get so much spam these days it was becoming hard
to tell the difference between the crap and the credible !

Paul do you have a link for spambuster and is it freeware or shareware.... /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wavey.gif

Sue, I got it off the Cnet Downloads.
Most are shareware, but worth paying for imho.

Here is a starting point for anyone interested :-
http://cnet.search.com/search?timeout=3&q=spambuster
There are at least three programs to choose from.

Another free product that I found VERY useful is www.mailwasher.net (http://www.mailwasher.com) you can bounce back the e-mail,ban sites e.g.@hotmail.com and have a FRIEND tag to your friends e-mails by the way NEVER reply to an e-mail that suggests by doing so removes you from their list you are just confirming your address to them
