You need to start Windows Explorer.
In Win98, you get to it by clicking on the Start Button, then selecting Programs, then selecting Windows Explorer.
In WinME, use Start, Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer.
In WinXP, use Start, Programs, Windows Explorer.
If you have a new model keyboard that has a Windows key between the CTRL key and the ALT key, simply hold that key down and hit the "E" key. That will open Windows Explorer.
Once you have Windows Explorer open, you need to find your desktop directory. In Win98 it is in the Windows directory....but it may be hidden. To reveal it, do the following (Windows 98):
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Select the menu command "Tools"
3. Select the menu command "Folder Options"
4. Select the tab "View"
There is a button selection for Hidden Files. You need to select the one that says "Show All Files" then click on OK.
Now to delete that icon file.
5. Open the Windows directory
6. Open the Desktop directory
7. Locate the file you are after (It will probably be called "Pokie Magic: Merlins Gold" or something like that.
8. Delete it.
9. Close Windows Explorer and go back to your desktop
10. Hit the F5 key.
oh...you will want to re-hide your hidden files. To do this, follow steps 1-4 above, then select the "Do not show hidden or system files" option, then click on OK.
Windows ME - Same as Windows 98, basically.
Windows XP - your desktop file is in your C:\Documents and Settings\<your login name> directory.
Have fun everyone. If you can't follow the above, I suggest you contact a friend who is slightly more computer literate than yourself and see if they can follow it. Not trying to be insulting, but it takes a bit of computer knowhow.
Cheers
