Admin was just wondering if there anyway of making a forum thats closed off to firstly to people who dont have a username here and secondly that you need to enter a specific password to enter the forum...a password that only you can give to people that you know are over 18 yrs ???
Cause we do put some considerably naughty stuff up here that anyone of any age can get on and read, but we dont wanna have to behave because of that.
So is that possible??

Its certainly possible Ann, and an interesting idea. The problem is still that of actually verifying peoples ages without violating their privacy. Any ideas anyone?
On another forum I visit they have a password protected forum, and this password is only given to you in a PM after a set amount of posts. So the Admin's can verify by your posts something about your age (or that is what they advertise). Seems to work well there. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/type.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/type.gif

hmm nope, thats a tricky one. I guess its hard to prove it even if you invaded privacy by using a license or something as you could use anyone's. hmmm i guess it comes down to who you (admin) trust and believe really...i notice even alot site even for jokes etc have a warning up about it being adults only content and then you gotta hit that your over 18 to enter. I know youngies can still go in but atleast you've warned them and covered your but legally.

Just an idea how about using drivers lisence number not sure if its legal or not.Yes i know some people dont have drivers lisence. But same rule applies to a lot of sites for a credit card but not all of us have a credit card either.Just an idea.

This idea sounds like a good idea. Why can't admin use the details on when people pay for the games. (ie: Credit Card or offline payments) ???
Just a idea?

Something to be aware of with online payments - we don't process them and at NO TIME do we have access to credit card details. Digital River (Regnow) do all that (for a nice 20%).
Regardless of how we come across the personal information, I think there are still broad restrictions on how we can use it, even for your benefit.

There are other considerations too. For example, I paid by direct money transfer from my bank to Pokie Admin account, then advised by email that I had paid, whereupon I received my codes.
I didn't at any time provide any details except my first name, my email address and the amount I had transferred.
I imagine I am not the only person to do this....
