View Full Version : Overused Rego Codes

We don't like to sound mean, but we are detecting a lot of codes being used LOTS of times in a short period. One code has been used thirty times in just a couple of months.
We do deactivate codes we find used excessively - but we generally offer a reasonable chance to explain if there has been a problem.
Please keep codes private, its the only way to ensure that others don't go using them up.

Yes one of mine was deactviated and i will have to respond to the mail.
I agree in totally that this is a good idea if your codes are stolen or someone giving them out willie nilly but as for my self I am a software tester and i like to tweak my hardware i have blown 4 mainboard in the last 6 months and i rebuild my machine every sunday with a image i ahve.
The e-mail i got said that my game had been activated 6 times which is about right but on six seperate pc's??? I am not sure how the software detects what pc you are running but i am changing hardware all the time and I think this is a bit unfair to people who pay for the games for legitimate use.
Thanks,
sorry to ahve a whinge but I thought i had to say something. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Just a suggestion....and this would of course need verification by Admin or support@pokiemagic.com
If you need to reinstall, contact Pokie Magic FIRST!! BEFORE you reinstall. That way you can confirm with them that they are happy with what you are doing before you do it.
I am not aware of all the details of your "infraction", Robert, but I do know there is quite a bit of leeway allowed.
Admin1
26-05-2003, 07:28 PM
We did keep this private Robert, but as you brought it onto the web board, we feel it is prudent to respond in the same way.
The reason your code was suspended was the number of different computers it was used on - 6 computers since May 11. We are able to tell if the computer is different, but not in such a way as might identify its owner.
Please note the last paragraph in the email sent to you
" If there is a reason you would like to
communicate to us, we would be happy to revisit our decision to deactivate
your code."
There is plenty of scope there to issue a replacement code.

The record for activations is a Monster Money code used 61 times.
Please keep us informed if you see any rogue codes out there in internetland.

As I have changed my computer, I have had to reinput the codes however, not sold or given them away (I want you guys to be rich and remember your ol' friends!!).
Seriously, can you stop then from being used again???

Peta, the Pokie Magic team are able to disable any issued code so it cannot be used again to register any Pokie Magic game.....
or so I understand what I was told!!!

Peta, we can disable a code permanently or temporarily without any real problem.
If the registration system itself is compromised, we are able to permanently lock out versions of games from being registered. The downside for users is that they would be required to download all new versions of all games.
It is fairly likely that we will switch to Sharelock soon.
Admin1
26-05-2003, 10:54 PM
Kelvin, reasonable use is just fine. You could reinstall once a month and easily slip by the code reactivation detection logic in its current settings. What we are trying to stop is unreasonable reactivations or new activations on different pc's. This is not because we are mean, but because we would like this site to survive.

I don't have a problem with it - those silly people who are handing out codes to their friends are 'NAUGHTY PEOPLE'!! Please let's help this site develop new games - therefore buy their products not "share" them!!! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Feest30.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Feest30.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Feest30.gif

Admin and all that are interested,
I have searched hi and low for registration codes for the games but have only come accross 1 sute that offers them, i have searched using 48 different search engines including google, dogpile, yahoo, excite you name it. I have also gone to known websites offering cracks and codes that are quite well known, I have tried Kazaa, Edonkey ( peer to peer ) Found None at all.
The site that I refer to is www.serials.ws (http://www.serials.ws), they have codes for the fruit game but the activation code given " <edit by Sue> " works or should I say seems to work on all games, when you register using this work, a box pops up thanking you for registering, but when you run the game it says there is an access violation and you will have to reinstal. To test it I uninstalled and reinstalled the game a number of times only to find that each time I use the registration code the game breaks down.
I will say in defence of my actions that this was in no way an attempt to get registration codes to meliciously undermine the attempts of the pokie magic team and developers to protect there creations.
I simple read this set of threads and wondered, lets face it I think we all may have at one stage wondered if they are available. It is in my opinion that most cases are quite valid, but multiple reactivations of the same codes are, simply put those who purchased the games and handed the codes out to friends, family etc.
I donnot believe in 2 weeks that 5 - 10 reactivations could be anything more than codes being passed out.
Nowhere on the net that I have seen ( I spent a great deal of time looking )codes for these games. Except the one mentioned. By the way the site installs about 13 different data miners on you system while you look through there site.
I will keep you informed of any codes that become available in the realms that I visit from time to time.

@@@@@@@@ Piracy >>>>>> My Views ( 2 cents worth ) @@@@@@@@@
What are the legal implications for those who have been passing codes, Maybe these people believe that once a game is purchased, they can do what they want. Lets face it I used to have all windows operating systems but have passed them to friends with codes as I upgrade to a newer version, this however is not wrong.
Also, please note that piracy is only big due to the huge cost involved in purchasing some products that quite simply could still be profitable at 1/2 there selling price. One way of getting the point accross is a game that has 3 CDs each CD only contains 127Mb of compressed data. This game sells for $99 Australian. Is this fair to the consumer???? I think not, but thats me. If I like the game I will buy it, some dont even release demos anymore. Shops wont take items back when opened nor will they exchange them when opened.
Catch 22.
Remember, recording music on tapes was a form of piracy, recording movies from the TV was a form of piracy, they are excepted thing we do in every day life. The main focus of US govt regarding piracy is those in the world arena that copy, mass produce and sell the programs for profit at the same time undercuting the real deals. End users are to great in numbers and at the end of the day it will probably become an excepted thing when the market for burnt DVDs skyrockets.
Cheers
This is not to say I agree with piracy BUT I can understand the reasons why it exists. Money makes the world go round, why buy it if you can get it for nothing especially when it is expensive.
Thats my 2 cents worth hehehehehee
Everyone will probable think I am a pirate now hehehehehe " Eye " hehehehehhehee

I think that is a very relevant point you have raised regarding the cost. I can understand how some poeple would find it hard to afford some programms. However Pokie Magic games certainly dont fall into that category. Especially if you take advantage of the deals on offer.

Sue,
In reference to the new 6 reel bunny bucks, I cant play it because it say I have reached my spin limit although I have just installed it. I guess this version already takes into account the spins for the old 5 reel version, Not a big issue but people like me who really enjoy the games and are on the crest of buying them would have probably already gone through the spins alocated in the 5 reel demo. Thus they are not able to sample the quality work produced for the 6 reel.
I hope pokiemagic decides to allow a few hundred extra spins on any other addition updates for this and any other pre existing games they convert from 5 - 6 reels. They are basically 2 seperate games arnt they ?

wizard4it.....SUe will prob tell you the same thing, when Admin converted BB into a 6 reeler and put it up there for download he did state in the forums and next to the game on the download page...That this game is only for "Reigstered" users of BB, so not to bother downloading it unless you have already registered (paid for) the BB 5 reeler.

Wizard, thanks for your extensive comments. With the assistance of board users, we do keep an eye on whats out there. There are always people who want things for nothing, but what comes around does eventually go around.
As for BB6reels - it took a lot of converting to get it to run. The amount of work involved would easily have justified making it a stand alone game, but we wanted to say "thanks" to all of the loyal registered customers of the prior games. By making that game only playable by them, we hope we succeeded in that aim.

Admin,
I went back nd looked at main screen. Yes there are a number of times that it is mentioned that the 6 reel Bunny Bucks is for registered users hehehehehee, my bad lick hehehehehe. The last few releases have been great and I think I speak for everyone concerned when I say " well done, Great job ".
Being unemployed at this stage doesnt help the situation or I would have already taken up the one of the offers ehehehe I am saving though bit by bit and its getting there, just dont unexpectedly increase the prices hehehehhe, by all means feel free to reduce them further if you feel the urge, I wont complain.
This is is another reason I like your games so much and get disapointed when I dont get the 2nd level feature eg Lucky Stars. I dont have much else to do and I enjoy the odd fling with your pokie games betting more than I would really, sorta brings a little excitement to my somewhat boring days.
I look forward to you next release and would still ( If you are willing ) to place me on the testing list. I guess at this stage I have a little more time on my hands than most, anything on offer to fill this time would be appreciated greatly.
Cheers

Hi all,
Well I am about to buy the package for $99 so i can double up on the licences as i went to the club last night and some of the games i saw there last night just made me want to be sick. Pokie Magic's games are getting better and better.
I would like to see more games produced so I think everyone who hasn't purchased the games and are stealing codes or sharing should just do them self's a favour and buy them so we can get more games.
I like it better now as i found out how to bet more than the 100 credits. I am now betting $50000 per spin and it is great .

I have to admit being slightly curious about that myself.
However, if the answer involves going and editing settings within the program itself (by editing code or registry settings or something like that), that is a breach of the sales contract agreement and I do not want to know!!

There is a bug which allows this to occur. The next release of all games will fix the problem. At the time of the next release, all current versions will cease being able to re-register themselves. Upgrades will therefore be compulsory for all games.
