They make a relevant point though....It is somewhat hypocritical of the banks to fund the establishment of the
gambling venues but not have their ATM's in the very same
premises. It might make the bank look good in the eyes of
a select few but in reality may be disguising a much bigger problem.
It is like the government providing community service support to gamblers but in the same breath....
collecting massive taxes on pokie revenue !
The debate appears to focus on symptoms and not the cause.
Just my 2c.

i think being a problem gambler this move should be made to get all ATM's out of pokie places because too easy and convenient maybe if there were no ATM's in these pokie venues then pokies would be more of a social activity and outing for people rather than a place where most people if they play are not really going to be social - only with the machines etc

I agree...remove them from pokie venues because yes it is too easy to just keep getting a lil more and its not until the next day you check your account balance and realise how many times yuo just went and got a lil more. And if you had to actually leave the place to drive to a bank and get more money...your likely to just go home as your machine cant be reserved that long anyhow so you lose what you were playing.

You could make the same argument for removing atm's from pubs and clubs. That way someone who is nearly over the limit cannot just go get more money, drink more and then kill someone/themselves on the way home.
However, I agree that they should be removed from any venue where legalised gambling is taking place, whether that be a club, the TAB, a casino, whatever!!

greg in pubs it is the barstaff who are NOT supposed to sell you any more if ya drunk even if ya use or dont use an atm but i think we know money speaks all languages and to a hotelier it says "hello"

Yup. you can always ask a (relatively) sober mate to go get the drinks for you though. It peeves me somewhat, I have a very strong objection to drink-driving.....sorry.

PETER!!!
EXCUSE ME i have worked in pubs and nightclubs (even managed the bar in 2 places) and the money does NOT say "hello" to me or anyone i worked with! Last place i worked in used to frequent bikers and even them i didnt serve once they'd had enough, ive had people jump the bar with threats over me erfusing to serve them anymore...but they still dont get served! Did you know that not long ago it was a $10,000 fine (if caught)to the person selling more drinks to someone intoxicated and the Venue gets and even bigger fine for not waching the staff to make sure that didnt happen. And i can guarentee if you were working under me and got my club fined well over 10,000 you would be fired! And believe me there are plenty of under cover cops around watching that stuff even in general pubs.
Yep im sure there's stil some people who keep serving them, which is the bar manangers fault as they should be firing those people.
There i've said my peace now. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif

No offence taken. But those people where you go need to be FIRED!! Yeah ok that person they keep giving drinks even though they are way too drunk might kill himself but what about the family he kills as well when he crashes into them?
In the 7 years i've done bar & management i can honestly say NOT once have i ever served anyone who i think has had enough no matter how much money they try giving me! And the reason being is because i have lost family and friends due to drink driving so i know how it feels and dont wish that on anyone else.. If you look at it from my point of view peter...if i kept serving someone even a regular customer and they then drive off and crash into a family killing them,,,,next its on the news and the guilt would kill me seeing the parents who's kids died or vice versa..plus if the driver can be placed at my club drinking before he drove it could be traced back to me and i can go to jail for still serving someone intoxicated that caused deaths.
I dont understand why anyone would keep serving someone who's drunk /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif WIth my reg customers as soon as they'd had enough id take their keys and call them a taxi to go home.
Hmmm can ya tell my love is for working in a bar? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif and here i am lookin for reception work. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nut.gif THink maybe i should go back to bar /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif
