View Full Version : Your daredevil exploits

Peter Vic

Most people are closet daredevils and would love to do a lot of things...

Well, this little black duck has done the following :

Parachuted
Bungee jumped (several times)
Mountain climbed
White water rafted

and some of the more mundane things, such as skiing, snow boarding, water skiing, trail bike riding etc.....

Wish list - Auscar laps at the thunderdome, ride a motogp bike, base jump, scuba diving amongst others...

Would love to know what others have done, and would love to do....

(Think my kids wouldn't let me do some though...)

Cheers, Peter...

I am a daredevil, I drive a car, walk down the street, ride a mountain bike, been in a plane, play the pokies and love climbing the rocks at Hanging Rock, walking to the top of Camels Hump and to the top of Mt. Macedon, climbing down to see Trentham Falls now I do these things I love at least five times a year it gets the old heart pumping, but the biggest daredevil of them all, is parking the car at the supermarket.

Favorite thing has been the bungee jump...... Leastwise, I can remember it, the parachuting a complete blank between leaving the plane and hearing the parachute open.....

The big drop at Dreamworld is fun. Especially when its your first time and you you think the restraint isn't working. The 4 hour lineup is a bit of a chore though.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. You can also see the Gold Coast highrises from the top of the ride.

Big A ........ I was caught completely offguard.....they left us up at the top for at least 5 minutes...when they let it go .....my legs went straight out in front of me and the person beside me chundered.....it was one of the most hideous experiences of my life.....I didn't need to be strapped in...I held on for grim death and had no chance of coming off it....even when the ride was over.

The distance you can see from that Tower on a clear day is extraordinary.

It was worth going through spewvision just for that

Tried riding a bike off the edge ? That's pretty cool, but haven't tried using a kayak - have seen it done where we used to go...
Reverse bungee is pretty good, but prefer the original old school style..

Toboganing at Jamberoo, on the steep slope is a bit heavy, a mixture of luge and ice-skating on your back, even though they reckon you have brakes; had been that concerned that I forgot about the brakes    , when I did make it to the bottom which didn't take long at all, I was told that several people, in the early days of the Park had come off and been skewered by iron pipes that they hadn't taken out of the hill; more concerned at opening on time than safety.

Still today if you go a bit high on the corners you become air-borne, and I don't mean you join the Marines, it's good if you know how to land on the grassy hill, like Paul said, quite easy to end up with bung knees, especially if they weren't that good to start with (League memories). But what's life about if you just sit around all day.

+ a number of other cliff exploits
Toboganing and skiing at Thredbo

Suppose the one thing that comes to mind, was my one an only try in a donut, behind the ski boat... Took them days to talk me into it.. So after donning daughters wetsuit, and telling them to take it slow I climbed in.. Fool took off at a great rate of knots, Im hanging on like grim death, eyes shut for the first length of the trip. First turn, I thought I can do this, even though the scenery was a blur... Next thing Im flying through the air.. thought yes Im still ok so tightened my grip... then thought Sh*t, the boats going the wrong way and the river bank and trees are getting close... then whammo I hit the water.. and I can tell you it aint soft:) the caseing of the donut had come apart I still had the handles in a firm grip but the ring was way behind me:smirk:
