An interesting link from the NT department of gaming:

http://www.nt.gov.au/ntt/licensing/gaming/ApprovedGamingMachineGames.doc
(its a 450k Word document for download)

What it shows is the complete list of gaming machines available in the Northern Territory, but more importantly their payout ratios. You would imagine that pubs in particular would choose the variations with the lowest payout returns (why wouldn't they...)

EXAMPLE:
2939 Aristocrat Queen Of The Nile 0201200V 01 1¢, 2¢, 5¢, 10¢, 20¢, 50¢, $1 85.08 Mk V 500

Machine type 2939 is available in 1c-$1 denomination, with a payout rate of 85.08%. This means that roughly 14.92c out of every dollar spent will be kept by the machine over time. So...if you are playing the max bet of 500 credits ($5) and the reels take around 3 seconds to spin, with another say 3 seconds per spin for the user to think about things.... that means you could in theory spin 600 times per hour, at an average loss of $447.60. PER HOUR!

If you play the hyperlinked version the following payouts apply:
3758 Aristocrat Queen of the Nile (Hyperlink) - QCOM 0101670V 06 1¢ 82.06 Mk5 500
Notice that the payout percentage has dropped to 82.06%. This means that over that same hour, you would instead lose $538.20 NOT COUNTING ANY HYPERLINKS WON.

(amounts are appoximations and based on payout amount listed and over time. Does not include payouts based on linked or other jackpots. Do not use as a substitute for professional advice)

That article originated in the NT govt website, the Victorian govt gets billions I think in pokie taxes, should be able to afford a similar document on their website.

the payouts in victoria must be even less because if the govt get pokie money imagine how much the clubs and pubs get because every club/pub you go to has built on or extended their premises i would be better off to chat on pokie magic web board and save all my money

Having a closer look, I suspect those same variations are available everywhere, the operator just chooses (with a little legislative assistance possibly) what percentages would suit their venues.

If they would cut the pokie taxes entirely, the machines would almost be affordable as a funtime activity.

that is what it used to be about 10 or more years ago have a bit of fun and entertainment for people - now it is see how much money we can make, profits etc

but the good thing about pokie magic games i can play them when i want for the cost of a registration code which is VERY REASONABLE and be entertained for hours - sometimes up to 5 hours or more a day, not bad considering i still have to work

Keep up the good work
