As we have gone over the top of the three things mentioned, at the start of this lounge, I was hoping that members could share some of their experiences of Live Theatre,
My all time favourite, which I saw when I was 20, a long time ago, in a small theatre in Glebe, I believe, was "The Rocky Horror Show", I was bedazzled by the sights, sounds and aromas that it reached, far better than any sanitized movie, at a 24 theatre complex.
This was real, the only thing I have seen that could compare, as it also touched all senses was Cirque de Soleil. :14clap: :14clap: :14clap:

About 10 years ago I was in Vegas and my travelling partner and I decided to go and see a show. We decided on a show called Splash and were really excited because got front row seats for that nights performance:12cheer: :12cheer: :12cheer: :12cheer: :12cheer:
We turned up, handed our tickets to the usher and in turn got given clear plastic raincoats:headscrat :headscrat :headscrat :15dunno: :15dunno: Didn't know what to think, so stashed them under our seats when we sat down.
Anyway about 15 minutes after the show started we found out why the raincoats were needed and the show wasn't called Splash for nothing. The show was about actors pretending to be sea creatures and had water ducts set up under the stage to spray the actors to make it look real. Unfortunatley there had been trouble calibrating the spray jets and not only the actors got wet but so did the audience in the front row. Hence, the handing out of the raincoats:3rofl3: :3rofl3: :3rofl3: :3rofl3:

I recently started a new job in Theatre, setting up stages, lighting and audio. It's really interesting stuff. I was supposed to watch a show that I helped set up for, but I worked too hard and wasn't up to staying awake. lol. The next show I'm helping set up is Die Fledermaus - Queensland Opera, then setting up a few shows that are mainly unknown regional stuff, but more major shows coming up are High 5, Australian Ballet, Human Nature, Will Anderson, Kasey Chambers and Carl Baron. So a lot to look foward to, and benefits of working include meeting the performers ;-)

David Campbell, you rock!!!
What an absolutely fantastic show. All the hits from his fabulous Swing Sessions CD plus lots of other great songs. Beautiful renditions of Mr Bojangles, Mack the Knife and of course, I Can't Take My Eyes off You. Also sang songs such as Viva Las Vegas and Shout.
During Beyond the Sea he asked the audience to sing along and he stopped in front of a guy in the second row. David told the guy to give up his day job. So Scott (guy from the crowd) jumped on stage, took the mic of David and finished the song - and Scott had a fabulous voice as well:grin:
David was gobsmacked - said the show was about him and not the audience (tongue in cheek). Actually the crowd was pretty cheeky to him, told him to take off his clothes 'cause he was feeling hot:lmaoblue: - whenever David went near that section of the crowd he cracked himself up with laughter.
The audience was also heard about his childhood as Jimmy Barne's son :lmaoblue::lmaoblue::lmaoblue:some very very funny stories told. And you will be pleased to know that he didn't sing Working Class Man but a swing version of Cheap wine:14clap::14clap::14clap: Everyone was yelling out for more.
He said how much he enjoyed doing It Takes Two with Jolene and he has plans to work with her later this year. Perhaps a duet on his next CD???
The only let down was that he didn't sing Perhaps, Perhaps (but his opening act did)
If he does a show near you, get along he was fabulous.
Now to save money for Elton John (here in December) Michael Buble early next year and hopefully Chris will come back as well:7weeeeeee

Sounds like a great night Kat.. Your town made the headlines here in this mornings paper with the mention of Elton playing there and would seem Tassie are trying to secure a concert as well:thumb:

I really wanted to see "Hair" when a was a wee bit younger, the fact that it was about the culture I was living enthralled me, alas I was unable to see it.
I wish they would bring some of the "Baby Boomer" Live Theatre back, as I can go now, Mum hasn't banned me, :3rofl3::3rofl3::3rofl3:.
Pardon my ignorance Katina, but who's David Campbell :lmaoblue:Glad you had a great night. I saw Hair many years ago Michael, it was a fabulous show at the time - we went in all our Hippy regalia.:!!!icon29
