Has anyone else encountered a certain (look down the nose at you) attitude if you mention that you like the pokies. Some seem to think you are lower class citizens if you like to have flutter. I can understand there are problem gamblers out there, but that is a disease and most certainly the sufferers dont need contempt. Im glad Pokie Magic offers us an alternative to being dragged into that no win situation.

I agree people do sort of frown at you if you tell them you like to play the pokies, not all of us have a problem, I enjoy a bit of a flutter every fortnight or so and its my choice with my own money, some people need to loosen up a little, yes some people have problems with gambling and that is unfortunate and hopefully they get the help they need, maybe they should play pokiemagic games-certainly a cheaper alternative to the real thing.

Sure, you get that sort of attitude all the time. It sort of goes with the territory....although I get some strange looks from pokie players when I tell them I play on my computer all the time...
Takes all kinds.

Some one can up to me while I was playing the pokies who knew me and said "I did not know you gamble" I turned around and said noticing a beer in his hand and said "I didn't know you were an alcoholic"

But isn't it amazing how we can be quickly generalized as Pokie Addicts just because we like to play the pokies.

true. sad but true.

my latest escapade with the real ones, it took me 90 minutes to spend $15.....7 cents at a time!!!!

A guy sitting next to me went through $400 in the same time period.

But isnt that depressing to play like that? I always liked to play with big credits, lots a lines or else it was just too boring. Obviously I dont play often.

Not really. I had an hour to kill in any case, only had $20 on me, had company to help push the button and curse the machine and didn't want to lose the lot in the first couple of minutes.
It's a matter of attitude, I guess /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It would be intresting to see the payout percentages on all these forms of gambling. I did see a list years ago, it listed most of the forms of gambling (including scratchies and bingo) and the punters return rate %for dollar invested. It was very surprising. Does anyone have any current figures?
