View Full Version : A Late New Years Resolution.
I have decided to give up the pokies cold turkey.
It's only day one but after months and MONTHS of losing you sort of get the hint that they are taking all your money /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Well Done Symo, may the force be with you!!!!!
(Not Pokie Magic games too I hope)

Good luck Symo. Hope you make it.
of course, you were only referring to the ones that need real genuine cash....werent you??
ABSOLUTELY NOT! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I would Never give pokie magic up for nuthing /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Onya Symo what a top bloke. Hows the withdrawal going?

There shouldn't be any withdrawl, Sue. Symo is only giving up the cruddy money-stealing pokies, not the real fun ones... /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Well Day 3 so far so good, i'm now starting to twitch for the first time /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Nah! not really! It's all goin' well. Meanwhile I think that I have worn out that poor little cupid though /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Still sticking to that resolution? It can be difficult, but ultimately could save you a fortune.
I doing pretty well at tha moment. the BIG test is gonna be payday. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I may have to buy all of the rest of the pokie magic games! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Admin how long do you reckon that the 8 games for $99 is gonna last for? Because it is a really good deal!
the other hearts desire i'm gonna give to a friend and get him hooked on pokie magic as well /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ditto....will the $99 for all 8 games (not to mention the new Egyptian Dreams, which you said is only available to registered owners of the original one) last until Thursday this week?? (i.e. the 3rd of April??)

Howdy. Just wondering how you are going with the cold turkey situation. I hope you are stronger than I am.
Went to the Casino last night and could have walked out extremely down in the mouth however, won half my money back and just had one side of my mouth down!!
Hope you are stronger than I am. I admire people who can stick to something they REALLY want to do.

The $99 special will continue for the forseeable future. The structure may change slightly but the deal will still be available.
We are preparing another deal for those who have already paid $99 for the 8 games to ensure they do not lose out when the two new games are released.
The revised Egyptian Dreams will also have a new main background page, to differentiate it from the existing game a little further.
One of the designers has requested we change the pyramid effect in Egyptian Dreams, but I am quite fond of it.... what do you all think?

Why change "what's not broke"?
What about, if necessary, changing it to the Tut's coffin (yes, sounds macabre doesn't it)?
My vote is for the pryamids to stay, they look very effective. Not to mention pretty.

Good to know Laurie, it certainly cant hurt you to support Pokie Magic as much as it can if you support the money hungry ones.

Admin Should I wait a little bit longer or should I invest Straightaway???
P.s. Blossom I'm sort of getting a little tense at the moment. My first payday just went by. It was sort of weird at first, when I drew my money out I sort of just started to walk in the direction of the local Pub, But I just stopped, turned around and walked the other way and still I haven't been yet. It's funny though, it's Friday and I still have money in my wallet. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It gets easier the longer you don't do it!
I would invest now, it won't really make much difference /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Cool No worries thanx /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Symo, how are you going now nine hours on?
I note you are in SA as well - do you feel comfortable to say where you go to play?
That's cool Peta. I like to go to the rose and crown hotel and the Stockade Tavern. I think that the stockade had better payouts than the Rose and crown.

Oh - I see you are at the northern end of Adelaide.
I am just on the outskirts of Golden Grove so I visit places like the Somerset, Roulettes and the Bridgeway.
Did you hear about the old lady at the Stockade yesterday morning - she is 85 years old and got robbed by some lout just on her way into the Stockade.
Was she hurt? Poor old Dear, what a shock for her. I was reading of another older lady. 84 years old and 4 foot high who was bashed and robbed and left for dead. She needed brain surgery and remained in a coma for 3 days. All the scum got was $10.00. Some pathetic people around.

What a horrible thing to happen to her. Security is usually tight inside such premises, but outside it generally drops right off.
I was at Brisbane's Treasury Casino a few years ago, and upon leaving via the main entrance was accosted by a group of youths seeking money. This was about 10 metres from the front entrance. I just didn't go back.

There wasn't much info about it in our papers so I am not sure.
That particular tavern opens at 7.00am (not many in Adelaide do that) as they cater to the shift workers at Holdens.
I have been there at 7.00am and absolutely surprised with the people of all ages there.
I hate seeing people with their children waiting outside the Casino waiting for their other halves (and parents) to come out. We were there a couple of weeks ago and saw a 4 year old waiting for dad at 11.30pm!!
That is worse than being accosted for money - you just tell them you lost it all in the pub and they will believe you!!
It really surprise that Casino's havent jumped on the child care centre band wagon like some the pubs have. It would surely increase their patronage. Maybe they cant for legal reasons who knows, but it would certainly stop people leaving their kids in cars outside. Its sad alright. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think THAT would be sad and tempting to all. I must admit when I have had enough of my little one I REALLLLY want to go however don't due to lack of babysitters at short notice.
Going to a on-site child care centre would be soooo tempting and bad for me considering I am going cold turkey at the moment and not putting myself in the way of temptation - even given my husband my keycards, credit cards, etc. I am not sure where he has put them either (that is a first for me).
Symo, how are you going on not going?
Good one Peta, stick to you guns hey. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I just dont understand why they havent got em. They will do anything just about for the almighty dollar. Heaven help us though if they ever do. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think there would be a huge uproad about it.
Was there when your state first introduced them? Was there a time limit applied?
No I dont think there was, when my Darlings were little we had to take turns going in cause there was no way they would have been left in a car. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
well day 10 and still fairly optimistic. I got past one payday hopefully the next aswell /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Yeah I heard about that poor lady and for only $10. this is my argument that I have with my friends and all about the fact that they have a pub right smack-bang next door to a railway interchange. it is the same for the *name removed*(other side of the interchange)as well someone got stabbed for a measley cigarette. and they wonder why salisbury has a bad reputation.

Symo, well done - I am proud of you. Do you get paid weekly or fortnightly? What have you done with the money you have saved?
/webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party2.gif
I am actually surprised not more has happened there - granted it is not the safest area in Adelaide and to think someone can snatch and grab and take away as quickly as anything and then get on a train it is quite concerning. However, I did notice that there is cameras everywhere on the way in - hopefully they got a good picture of the nutter who did it.
I would love to find out about the lady and take her out for a couple of hours (my shout) and just show her there are nice people in the world.
I don't go to the other pub - unfriendly staff (this was however, years ago) plus the fact I went one night - played the hearts machine and lost heaps - moved to another machine and then watched someone get nine lots of five hearts (yes this is correct) and take out squillions from the machine.
I want to know how that is fair to all concerned!! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pirate.gif

You should write a letter to Aristocrat about that one. Nine lots of five hearts. NINE! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif
The hearts machine was my mothers favourite. She once got five hearts straight up - no two three or four hearts to trigger it.
And way to go Symo, keep it up /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Do you think that they WOULD believe it? None of us (including the person at the machine) believed it!! Boy, was I **ssed off when I left the place - mainly due to the fact that I had been on it!!
The local pub has one Heart machine - I watched a guy one night play maximum bet by maximum lines and it was a 5 cent machine. He got the best turn around - all five hearts (on the last spin of the bonus round) and took out squillions.
Last week, I saw a guy get the five dolphin treasures betting maximum (it was only a 1 cent machine though). It was great to see. He ended up taking out $800 on a 1 cent machine. I like seeing that happen to someone.
Do you know how Aristocrat and others test their games? Are they generous like you guys are?

I think Aristocrat have other things on their mind at the moment..... but I guess they would have to let real world people test their machines.
I can just see the newspaper ad.... "Addicts wanted......."
It would be fun to test their games. They have trade fairs from time to time where machine operators can test them out. Apparently they are set up so every time you hit the button a feature is triggered. Wouldn't that be nice /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shh.gif

I think more along the lines of "Due to prior financial contributions you have give us, we are giving you the chance to play new games for nothing as we are here to provide a safe and enjoyable pastime!!".
I laugh when I see the gambling hotline number on machines and that pubs promote responsible gambling however, offer you tea/coffee/drinks/munchines/atms/promotions etc. Where do they promote it?

Aristocrat are big in Australia, but not so big in the USA. IGT seem to have a stranglehold over there but I doubt they would let us peasants test their machines either.
I think legislation should pass here in Australia to allow ordinary peasants to own pokies of any kind, provided their was no financial mechanism of any kind and that their payouts be 101%, to ensure nobody would want to use them for that anyway. That I think would destroy the gaming industry entirely.
The Government couldnt do that, they make tooooo much revenue from the poor peasants. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pirate.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pirate.gif I wonder what they do with it all.

I would rather buy a machine and pass the profit I get from the machine in a night to the government (therefore, they would get nothing). I am the only one who seems to lose at the pubs?
Have you ever thought about doing a $1 machine (i.e. only three lines across)?
Also, can we see a screen dump of your "Owls" game?
P.S. Has anyone found the bunny yet?
Admin1

If the operators of machines lowered their take a little, and the government take was only what was necessary to run the networks of machines, people simply wouldn't lose very much. Its ridiculous the payout percentages on pokies.
A $1 three line machine would be easy to accomplish, provided we received enough requests (three usually does it /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif )
Nobody has reported finding the missing bunny.
As for "Owls". We are uploading it to our servers now. It is FREEWARE (for obvious reasons), but still copyright. It may not be listed on any other download site or distributed in any other means whatsoever.
Use it entirely at your own risk! We will advise download URL once upload is complete.

"Owls" is now available for the first time ever!
Please see http://www.pokiemagic.com/download/owls/
You need to download all ten files and place them in a folder on your pc. Then run the setup.exe from that folder and the game should install.
There is no support available for "Owls" but any comments are always welcome. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif
Thank you!!!! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/award.jpg
