I have been using it for many months.

It does ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, IRC and AIM, all at the same time. You can also download skins for it, etc, etc, etc.

I would recommend this chat software to anyone who chats regularly.

(and seeing it is not in competition with Pokie Magic, I have no problem endorsing it on this forum....*grin*.

They have a shareware (actually, I think it is free) version and a Pro version (which costs some $$) that has more functionality.

A friend of mine has trillian. It looks good. but it has just 1 little intsy, weentsy, little problem.
The Shareware (Which majority of people download) has Spyware components which allow companies to literally spy on your internet activity. (some or part of the reason why we get spam).
Apart from that it's a damn-side convienient though /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mulblob.gif

Wouldnt your firewall stop them though Symo...

In some cases, though they tend to be like files in a program. So in other terms. You pretty well have to know what's really going on your computer I suppose.

I have the Pro version, so wasn't aware of the spyware incorporated into the software.

Anyone who uses Kazaa or programs like that all install spyware in any case.... It depends on what you are running.

Hey Greg.
I have this download accelerator called Netpumper.
and as a part of the installation you have to accept this Ad installation called CyDoor, which pretty well takes over your computer....(Not really that bad)

The unfortunate thing abt this program. It's need to download mp3's. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

Must be how the website gets it's money.

Man It craps ya off sometimes...... Whoops! forget I even said that /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shh.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel2.gif

Hey Symo. Good to see you up and about again

I prefer for other people NOT to know my computer usage. But if you want to use software for nix, sometimes you have to put up with spyware as the cost.

You can use Ad Aware to give Cydoor the flick.

and it is really good too.

The only problem is that some programs, such as Kazaa from memory, LOOK for the adware. If they dont find it, they dont run...so removing the adware doesn't work in those cases.

Yep you are right on that one greg! If you remove cydoor from kazaa it does NOT run anymore! I have found that with a good 90% of programs that have spyware, if you take out the spyware they dont run anymore.
Smart little cookies arent they...those programmers making sure you have to leave the spyware on your system. But hey if ya want music or a program bad enough a little spyware is no big deal.

Oh, I dunno. I haven't found anything that I want desparately enough to include spyware on my system.

Of course, a couple of years ago......... /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif

lol greg i dont think i wanna ask about a couple of years ago /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif

Ahh it doesnt bother me...so they know my surfing habits and send me spam mail. I recently been using mail washer and it delete's, black list's and bounces the spam mail back to them and the mail slowly stops comming /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I wouldnt be suprised if Ad-Aware also has spyware in it /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif think about it, its the perfect program to put it in because of what your using it for, wonder if its possible for it to have internal settings that make it automatically skip searching itself on your system so that you wont know about it?? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif

Anyhows guys i gotta run for a little while i will be back later tonight sometime /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wavey.gif

If that was the case and ad-aware, possibly did give you possible spyware.......could that be tha case with most anti virus software giving you possible virus. Goodness know that has been playin' on my mind for ages.

Spyone1 (Greg)

LOL. You are starting to go down the road to computer paranoia!!

Normally you get what you pay for. I use Ad-aware Pro, which does cost, yes, but I have an ad-ware/spyware free computer.

Still, anything a software programmer can do, another one can get around. It is a never-ending cycle.

Very true greg!

Funny though how anti-virus companies try to suk ya in!! When i first bought this puter it came with Mcafee anti-virus on it..... soon as i ran it for the first time it pops up on my screen telling me i have some virus on my system and its damage rate it serious, so i click on all the prompts to get help and turns out it was a hoax by the company to get you to sign up for their online scan! And there weren't no stupid virus on here /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif
