If you're using Windows Vista please ensure you are using the latest versions of the games:

This is very important, the updated versions correct many Vista issues.
Secondly, if you are using Vista, you have our profound sympathy. Any operating system which requires FIVE separate dialogs to rename a folder, and which takes 5-10 seconds on a fast system to move a small file deserves all the anti-praise it can get.
Hopefully service pack 1 will correct the many many problems we've found with Vista, but until then, good luck!
