Almost ran off the road yesterday when the radio announced
the passing of Heath Ledger...
Such a short life, 28. What was he thinking...in his latest
interview he said he was now happy to die as he felt he
would live on in his daughter... sorry, but I can't see anything
joyous in that!

I my self wonder where his mind is at, his daughter will have to live without the love of her dad. Totally Senseless as far as I'm concerned.

So very sad. He didn't hurt himself, but you can't help thinking that
his mind set as you say was not quite on top of things. I have never
been a believer in sleeping pills, so have never had one. Guess
circumstances make them a real need for some people...

It may have been accidental ..this does happen... and we all know not to believe everything that is written .. rumours spread rumours;)
Either way its a sad loss to the film industry.

It's just another great shock and shame, whatever really happened. Fame sure takes it's toll.

Seems he is the 4th or 5th well know celeb from Perth that has met an untimely end in the last year...

I agree a senseless death.
What gets me is that young unknown actors on the way to the top court the media and papparazi trying to get as much attention for free. As soon as a new movie comes out, they are doing interview after interview to get noticed and get people to see the movie. The minute they become famous they can't be bothered having their photo taken. No wonder the media become confused.
That said, I found it offensive that the media could not respect Heath in death. How undignified to see a body bag wheeled out of his apartment and shoved into the back of the ambulance. His family and friends no doubt saw those images.
If the death is drug related (the latest reports are indicating illegal substances) I hope this acts as a wake up call to the Lindsay's, Paris's and Brittany's of the world. No one is invincible.

Very immature, media coverage of a young man's passing, how it happened is up to the Coroner in New York to establish, whether it was Heath Ledger or any number of young Australian men in USA, surely they are entitled to some Dignity and Respect. Alas the Editors in charge of these media Circuses seem to be heartless and only interested in selling the extra paper or attracting the extra advertiser.
Condolences to his family, daughter and many, many friends and fans.

I don't think too many people will be surprised, but the internet jokes have already started to circulate.....
Peter....
Yes, it's sickening isn't it Peter, I heard one last night.

I had a few sent as emails - pretty sick, but these type of jokes follow all celebrity deaths & scandals, as well as natural disasters too....
Cheers, Peter...
Yes unfortunately they do, pity these joke makers can't put their skills into something useful.

I'm sure these people wouldn't like if someone made fun of a death of one of their loved ones. Some of the worst jokes came after Diana died and those horrible people who posted picture of her dying in the car .... don't get me started on those morons.
Luckily I didn't hear any jokes relating to Diana. Can blame the media for all that Katina, don't know why they think we want so much sensationalism, I certainly don't and don't watch the news because of the way it's portrayed. Don't believe much of what is reported either, they seem to twist things around for more clout rather than state the truth.
I had an article done about a friend and myself once and only about 10% of it was what we actually said, they made up the other 90% and it was totally inaccurate and untrue, never trusted a reporter since.

Heath Ledger spoke of death in recent months
By staff writers January 23, 2008 12:20pm
HEATH Ledger spoke of his readiness for death and the legacy of his movies in recent interviews.
Speaking about fatherhood two months ago Ledger told Fox News ago he felt "good about dying" because he would live on through his two-year-old daughter Matilda.
"I think you also look at death differently," he said. "It's like a Catch-22 - I feel good about dying now because I feel like I'm alive in her.
"But at the same (time) you don't want to die because you want to be around for the rest of her life. It's kind of like an interesting kind of little set up."

I think that is a feeling alot of parents understand. At least I know I do.

Hi Angela, I did see the rest of the interview, but was caught up in that one line... one can imagine he was trying to be profound for the media. I am a mother of five and I could not have imagined saying at any time that I feel good to die because I am alive in them, but I want to be around while they grow up... T's a kind of condradiction.
Needless to say Heath will live on in the memories of many people, except for his daughter... her memories will be programmed into her through photos and film... all very sad.

Yes Sas I agree it is very sad. I also find it very sad that people are jumping to conclusions on this young mans death which, so far from all reports seem to be accidental.
Having had pneumonia myself only 2 years ago, I would have taken anything I had in my house with the delusions I had before I was hospitalised.
Just a very very sad story for any parent, without every man and his dog judging what seems to be just a very tragic accident resulting in this mans loss of life.
