A lament for a lost child

As the time of farewell approaches we rarely find time to reflect upon the important milestones in a life.
First a seed is sown upon fertile ground from there to sprout.
Next is the arrival of that shoot into the sunshine to be nurtured and grown/
A time of discovery, to look and learn, growing towards a youth of carefree fun.
As spring nears a partner is found for the start of a new season of growth, the cycle starts again.
With all things as spring comes winter also comes.
Yet winter is not as final as most think, step back and see that along the growth lines new shoots have sprouted.
This makes all who have been before an eternal part of life.
So mourn as you must but remember, all you mourn is around you in every member of your family.

For Katrina or Peter [whichever it be]

A smile as glorious as the sunshine on another day.
Eyes that shine with a love for those around you.
Dreams held in your heart grow onward to reach the stars.
Hands spread in anembrace on life.
A touch like the kiss of the mist on a pond.
Hopes and dreams for all near to you.
Hair shimmering with the richness you bring to everyone's life.
And all this just because you are you.

Thank you Tanya. That is truly beautiful.

Um...Kim is in tears...*grin*. She just thought it was sweet and of course she is a touch emotional right now.

I promise I will let you know which (Katrina or Peter) as soon as I can get to a computer after the big event, which may, of course, be a good number of hours afterwards.

For Ann

At times the world tilts and turns, we feel we will stumble and fall.
Then we find the world has righted it's self and we did not eveen notice.
In time all the hurt and suffering has moved with the world.
Life is so unfair to each and everyone in their own way, yet it always seems to be more so to those who are special, kind and least deserve it.
Maybe it is this way to try and teach the rest of us to be more understanding in our dealings with each other.

It's funny how that works, isn't it?? I seem to be more comfortable with women, and a lot of my good long term friends are women. (with the exception, of course, of the good Reformed Dragon and our mutual friend Dino).

I have no idea why, it just seems to work out that way.

Sue
19-04-2003, 11:46 PM
Yeah maybe its because there is no competition between the 2 different sex friends like there is often with the same sex friendships. Also I think there is a lot more tolerance for a different sex friend than a same sex friend. I am glad anyway, I have always got on better with guys, couldnt handle alot of the bitching amongst women.

Spyone1 (Greg)
19-04-2003, 11:49 PM
LOL. I know how you feel. I guess I'm not a typical male, don't go out and get drunk every week, have given up on sport (too lazy now, was too injured earlier in life), yada, yada, yada.
Hey, it could be worse. We could be STUCK with the same sex!!!

Sue
20-04-2003, 12:07 AM

There is a special place that I have found, a place to have fun ,to feel safe and to enjoy good company.
We meet and chat and laugh and cry, to share our joys and sorrows. Since finding this place I have enjoyed some very extraordinary things not least meeting these souls.

First there is Sue ah sweet Sue the mothering influence of us all she is the first to make newcomers welcome and guide their faltering steps with encouragement and praise plus some jokes along the way, always up for a new challenge no matter what the subject, be it a Trip or the Gods she’ll give it a go. She has fixed my blunders and yours to I am sure but she is always there and ready for more. Keep up the good work Sue.

The next one I was to greet was Admin, he tried to help me on my feet but technical advice was over my head, how stupid I must have seemed to him until I explained what a beginner I am, No problem for him, he just explained it simply and what do you know I GOT IT [I think] and he hasn’t had to shake his big stick at me [yet].

Spyone then dropped subtly by and said a gracious Hi, well we got on to chat and I got to join the Frat. We then went on to subjects more some even included old folk lore. Well what do you expect, if your anything like Greg I suppose it would be NO: 8. A father in waiting can be frustrating you see so he chats then chats some more just waiting for Kim to head out the door cause when she does the waiting is done then he be able to greet his new daughter or son.

Blossom has popped in from time to time and one day we will actually chat but till then I am sure you will agree reading her posts has been fun for me. Hiya Peta

Ann I met just last night this courageous person is putting up a great fight. To learn and raise a family is tough you see she really does inspire me. Shine bright and true Ann we are all pulling for you.

Pokie Magic has done a lot to help people like me get the confidence in using my computer for more than just playing games and doing work and I for one really appreciate it.
Keep up the great work and keep the good people on here you have now and we all win the major jackpot. And the Pokie games are great too.

Written with a pen
Sealed with a kiss
If you are my friend,
Please answer this:
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once, but I forgot.
So tell me now and tell me true,

So I can say, I am here for you.
Of all the friends I've ever met,

A Pensioners Impossible Dream

/webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tell all.gif
I for one would like to see
A politician living in reality
Just think what this would mean
Of all the things they haven't seen
Let them wait 5 years or more
For an operation just to be able to get out the door
I'll bet it wouldn't be long
Before they realised our health care system is very wrong
Dental work for them no more
Unless it's so bad you're on the floor
Then with luck you might get to see
Dentists to tell you have a cavity
But he can't fix it cause dental care is no more
Oh how hard it is to be poor
You need some pills to stop the pain
Can you afford to get them again?
Pay the rent then buy some food
GST how very rude
The instigation of that was really crude
Go to the Doctors to find if you're well
No more bulk billing Oh Hell
Now what is this I see
A letter from the government for me
OH great it's a rise in pension I see
Two dollars a week extra just for me
But what's this at the bottom Oh no it can't be true
My rent has gone up too
So much for two dollars for me
My rent went up by three
How nice it would be
To see a politician living in reality

All I need to Learn about Life I Learned from the Easter Bunny.......

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Walk softly and carry a big carrot.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There's no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans.
Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.
The grass is always greener in other people's baskets.
An Easter Bonnet can tame even the widest hare.
To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.

i found this one that i think is fitting for both of us with our current health issues...i think it really gave me something to seriously think about as im sure it will for you. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kissing.gif

(was written by a lady after she found out she had cancer and was going to die, but i guess it not only applies to cancer but also other illnesses)

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
I would have gone to bed when i was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if i weren't there for a day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over for dinner even if the carpet was stained or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten popcorn in the "good" living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have never insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day just becaused my hair had just been done.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about the grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching tv and more while watching life.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, i would never have said "later, now go get washed up for dinner".
There would have been more "i love you's" and more "im sorry's"
Stop sweating the small stuff, don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more or who's doing what.
Instead, lets cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us, lets think about what god has blessed us with each day as tomorrow it may all be gone.
Life is too short to let it pass you by.
We only have one shot at this and then its gone!
"Dont let life pass you by"

Now isn't a Nimbus a broomstick ? What can we read into this ?

Now that Sue knows what it is, I suspect I may need a human shield (any volunteers??).

That chappy left by himself in the house quite deserved to be didn't he.

Sue I wonder if it is possible to moon someone whilst on a
broomstick ? The mind conjures all types of images hehe
I am definately changing my avatar. I can no longer cope
with all the mooning. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nut.gif

Awww Paul dont change it, I was going to ask Ann if she could make me the old witch from Monster Money into an Avatar *she gets the stick Again* for me. I think she is cute and it seems it may suit me. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/16wink.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/16wink.gif

DAMNNITTTTTTTTTTTTTTT sue i found the perfect animated avatar for you...witch flying through the sky on broomstick...only problem is its 110 x 110 and your only allowed 80 x80 on here. SO give me a little and ill try download a program to shrink it without losing the animation /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hello everyone.

I too have used Irfanview - doing brochures etc for work. It is an excellent program and very adaptable.

Sue, where do you get your Avatars from? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/15GDAY.gif

Hey howdy Peta, how's things tonight? Do you actually know how to use that proggy, I havent mastered it all yet. I cant manage to keep the animation in the avatar that Ann sent to me. Paul gave me a link the other night, gamespy i think. I shall find it for you. I just googled for avatars.

Hi Sue. It has been about 18 months since using it religiously however, you are able to do heaps of stuff in Irfanview - i.e. resize, change from gifs to tifs to jpgs, etc.

Had a yukky day at work this arvo - fell up the stairs and spilt coffee everywhere and hurt my knee and just feeling very shaky.

I have two left feet I think!! /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif
