The legendary Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records and first mentor of Elvis Presley, died yesterday at age 80.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Sam's family in this difficult time. On January 8, 1997, Sam Phillips was our honoree at The Elvis Presley Birthday Banquet. The wording on the award of thanks and recognition he was presented with that night has been posted online to serve as our eulogy for our dear and wonderful friend.
