This is not a new game suggestion, just didn't know where else to post it.
When playing a game in auto mode, I jump the win counter to its final value by clicking on 'spin' so there is no wait for the countup. However, during a feature, that doesn't work, at a time when some large counts can occur necessitating a long...wait. How about allowing a click on 'spin' or something to 'jump' the win counter during features? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Chuck, you can press either space or enter at any time to make the counter finish.

Great, thanks for the info. Didn't know nor see
where that bit about the space bar or enter was posted.

The recent high score enhancements prompt a suggestion for making the current games more gamelike. How about adding a skill feature that would by pressing a key, stop the spins when a feature combination is 'seen'. Instead of game of chance as they now are, a skill would be involved.
This suggestion is made because with the high score listing, there has been a pseudo competitive gamelike feel but the realization that chance and playing more games are the only 'skill' involved. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/4-sunshine.gif

I am not 100% sure what you mean there Chuck, but Bankers Bullion is the next game out, and it allows you to choose when to start the feature, and what sort of feature you would like.
Watch out for that Bank Robber though.... /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shoota.gif

Will be interested in what the Bullion game is like.
To clarify my suggestion- the ability to try and stop the spins and 'catch' a feature combination manually is what I'm referring to. I have seen people cause a manual spin stop on IGT machines like Cleopatra and others in an attempt to 'catch' a feature by pressing the selection keys.
It's a bit chancey and depends upon the 'speed' at which the wheels are spinning-but that is the 'skill' aspect of
it as opposed to just letting the spin run out.
Again all this because of the 'competition' that has been
seen in the new version of the games-with the faster spins, the win counter off-all for higher scores. But, this
is all dependent upon chance and the number of games played.

Chuck, I like your idea, but I think you are operating from a misconception regarding the real life machines.
You may not believe this, but those IGT machines you are referring to have absolutely no skill involved whatsoever....they are just set up to make you THINK that.
Things like the "Clown Feature" and the "Train" (cannot remember the real names, that is how I refer to them) from the real-life versions you are referring to are predetermined. It doesn't matter when you hit the button, the amount you are going to win at that time has been decided long before you hit the first button.
(You REALLY think a real life poker machine link is going to give a genuine random chance at $10,000????? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3rofl3.gif)
However, hitting the buttons gives the punter the illusion of having "picked" the winning strategy or combination.
There is no more skill involved in those types of wins than there is in the current Pokie Magic high scores.
As an example, with the Bunny Bucks free spins inside the feature, 5 and 10 spins come up very often, 20 spins nearly as often, 50 spins occasionally and in all the 45,000 odd Bunny Bucks spins I have had on my machine, I have only had 100 extra spins once.
Your IGT machines are set up exactly the same way.

Greg,
Thanks for the info about the way the real machines probably work. The 'catch' possibility is just a thought for the real issue of introducing some sort of 'skill' into playing the Pokie Magic games. We are in a different 'gaming' world since there is no 'real' money at stake. The high scores posting as created, it seems to me, a different mentality in playing the games-at least it has for me. Now, I'm interested in speed-maximizing the number of games, autoplay and no win counter-again to speed up play, just to create the possibility of getting a higher score. That's when the thought began nagging at me that the impression of 'competing' to make higher scores is not really a competition but rather a test of one's patience and luck. So, to try and make this high score thing more interesting the thought occurred to me of trying to introduce some kind of skill factor. Maybe I'm wrong, the Pokie Magic games emulating real pokies are still games of chance not like games (Playstation, etc) where a certain amount of skill is involved.

No doubt about the patience aspect. We will be testing more complicated features in some upcoming games, and if they are well received (indicated by sales), we will continue down that path, making the games more interactive.

There are a few now in the States Ann, but they do seem to be awfully shy about joining either the forums or the highscores.
Perhaps they just need stirring up /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Perhaps it is that they are on a completely different time zone to us, and when they are wanting to get online, we are all asleep or at work!!!!

About people in the US knowing about the games, I think it
may be partly due to the reference 'pokies'. As you
probably know, they are known as 'slots' or 'slot machines'
in the US. Someone coming upon the website 'Pokie Magic'
probably has no clue about 'Pokies' and then to see 'Magic'
also referenced might think it has to do with doing magic
tricks. I came across the website when I was doing a search
about Aristocrat machines and did a search with the keywords
'slot Australia'-and even then wasn't sure until I downloaded and played one of the games. I'm sure there
are many interested in the states, especially here in
California where over the past 2 years, due to a change
in the laws, Native American (otherwise known as American
Indians) tribes were given the right to open casinos with
slot machines where other prior casinos were only card clubs, so most went to Las Vegas to indulge in 'slots'.
The revenue from these Indian casinos is nearing the take
of Las Vegas, though it's an estimate, as they don't have
to report their winnings because of the unique status
the Indian tribes have as 'sovereign nations' on their
reservation land and thus don't have to pay taxes -which
normally would have tipped off their income.
However, most people I know who play slot machines regularly, do it because they enjoy the chance of
winning 'real' money and will drive the distance to
get to these casinos which are about an hours drive
from where they are in Los Angeles or near Disneyland where
I live. The concept of playing free games on one's
personal computer is more the realm of the Playstation
crowd. So, it may be awhile before the Pokie Magic games
get attention. There are many 'online' casinos offering
free play, which I have tried, but these games are
inferior to the Pokie Magic games, as they are trying
to get one to wage real money via credit card. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/4-sunshine.gif

When you say they are inferior - taking the credit card out of the equation, which games do you prefer gameplay wise?

Hi Chuck.
Thanks for your post - it was interesting to hear about another country's view of the games.
Pokies in Australia are everywhere - there is a maximum of 40 in just about every pub and the casino (usually one in each state) has around 1,000 (give or take 1,000!!).
Most of us came here to the boards to see what games were available and have ended up close friends. I hope you don't become a stranger and come chat with us all - we are friendly and have a common interest!!

As I mentioned in one of my first posts, I prefer the
games that offer a great potential in the features such
as on the Aristocrat Unicorn machine - where all of the
symbols become wild. I have seen people play these
machines for hours-there is a newer version that is called
Tiki Torch that gets the same action. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/4-sunshine.gif
