Thought what we could do with was a place to share titles of books we are/have read that may be of interest to other members. Doesn't have to be a book you enjoyed - just share what you thought of it.

I have started reading a book by Elisabeth Haich, Initiation.

Its compelling at the moment and I am enjoying it..Just have to stay awake longer..:3rofl3:

Jacket description:

The story on one woman's spiritual and psychic odyssey through two lifetimes.

Id suggest you read the books, you would enjoy them.. far too much missed from the movies anyway.. and dont be put off by it being about vampires because its not the usual story line.

As a kid I spent a lot of time looking through second hand book shop mostly for comics.. while in town last week I drove by that area and the shop is still trading after all these years, so Ive decided to go in for a sticky next time Im over there and by myself. certainly a lot cheaper to trade and pick up a good read. Will be interesing to see what prices they charge now on exchange.

I've been looking for a book called "Seven Alone" about 7 children that have to travel along the Oregon Trail on their own, I found it in England, but not local, hard to find.

Lady Bump
30-03-2010, 07:39 AM
Ive made a note and Ill ask for you.
I read a book years ago about a woman who dived into a swimming pool in present day and surfaced in a river in the mid west, in indian country. Told of her life and family she reared there. then one day she went back to the river and came back to present day.. fanciful but a good read Id love to come across that one again as well.

Sue 19
30-03-2010, 07:47 AM
Ok Thank you, yes that sounds like a good book also. There was a movie called Seven Alone which was a true story told by the eldest girl in the family so the book should be good also.

Lady Bump
30-03-2010, 07:55 AM
I was going to say it sounded familiar think I may have seen the movie . I hired out a mini series 2 years ago just cant recall the name but your book twigged the memory and it centred around a family of kids and their journey on the oregon trail.

Kitkat

Sue 19

started reading a book called "The Third Man Factor" about people who are on the edge of death. These people are often adventurers or explorers who detect an unseen presence beside them. The presence either guides or encourages them to survive.

A lot of the stories are by well know people including Shackelton, astronaughts on the Mir space station, captains on submarines, people who managed to get out of the Twin Towers, microbiologists doing cave diving etc.

Very Very interesting:hurray:

Thought this was lovely:

One And Only You

Every single blade of grass,
And every flake of snow—
Is just a wee bit different …
There’s no two alike, you know.

From something small,
like grains of sand,
To each gigantic star
All were made with THIS in mind:
To be just what they are!

How foolish then, to imitate—
How useless to pretend!
Since each of us comes from a MIND
Whose ideas never end.

There’ll only be just ONE of ME
To show what I can do—
And you should likewise feel very proud,
There’s only ONE of YOU.
That is where it all starts
With you, a wonderful unlimited human being.

James T. Moore

A very nice piece Sue, wish I'd had the chance to read something like that when I was of an age to take notice and make better use of my life and make it more worthwhile instead of dwelling on all the bad stuff, which I still tend to do, so hard to let go after a certain age, that's another box I need to unpack I think!

Sue
23-04-2011, 09:27 PM
Yes it is very hard to let go to the hurts and disappointments Kaye, I can attest to that as well. One step, one day at a time..:)
