Please note: the old thread has retired. It was quite exhausted after all those posts.

New q: If you could be President of a country for a year, which would you choose?

Spyone1 (Greg)
07-04-2003, 10:57 PM
Norway. I have no idea why, just kept eliminating countries until I got to one I could cope with.

If you had to live somewhere outside Australia, where would it be??

Sue
07-04-2003, 11:03 PM
London so far of all the places that I have visited, mind you havent been to the States yet. Thats next I hope.

Have you been Europe?

Spyone1 (Greg)
07-04-2003, 11:34 PM
Yes, all except the former Eastern Bloc countries...at the time I wuz under a security clearance issue and they were verboten....included East Germany at the time.

Have you ever been to Uluru??

Sue
08-04-2003, 05:34 AM
Not in this lifetime.

Did you want to go to work today?

Sleep doesn't pay the bills unfortunately!

Who is your favourite contemporary author?

Petals
08-04-2003, 07:31 PM
Hi everyone - just logging on for the first time in about 48 hours - wow wow wow wow wow - heaps of messages to read.

My favourite author is Danielle Steele - yeah a chick writer she is!! The best book by her is "The Promise" - please all read it - it is sad but then lovely ending (as usually).

New Question - What are you all doing over Easter / Anzac Day holiday break? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party2.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Got my husband home for 10 days - heaps of work for him - paving, painting, sealing, etc.

Might just enjoy my time with him - and of course play my games.

I weakened last night and went out - what an awful effort it was. Didn't do anything. Have to stop going - please all of you help me out with support - keep installing new games and I can "walk" from machine to machine.

I like the idea of 243 way game as well as a "Golden Canary" like machine.

If there was a tablet on the market to stop you from playing ANY pokies, would you take it?

Admin1
08-04-2003, 07:54 PM
Hmmmm. Naughty Blossom. Its depressing to relive the excitement of going out hoping to win, when on the way home you just "knew" you were going to lose and don't see why you were so excited to start with. Been there certainly.

Pokies should be set to pay a minimum of 99% return to customers, then there would be no reason not to play them!

Sue
08-04-2003, 07:56 PM
I dont have that worry (about stopping) I worked in a TAB for a long time and horses were my weakness, working there all day, there was just no way I couldnt have a little flutter. Wasted a fortune over a period of time, but I learned that nobody wins in gambling. You may win one time, but then you give it all back again plus more. I finally left the TAB and now dont have a drama as long as I stay away. Was hard in the beginning, but has been a couple of years now and doesnt bother me. God that was an epic tale as well! Hey Greg I can do it too.

Did you have a good day? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Admin1
08-04-2003, 07:58 PM
I find horses intimidating.

What did the barman say to the horse?

...
Why the long face? !!

Sue

Petals
08-04-2003, 08:09 PM
Yes - worked nine hours over my two jobs today. Just feeling crappy about my loss last night. However, just have to put it behind me.

Horses don't do anything for me. Been thinking about getting my gaming license and working nights at a pub - might cure me - none stop working!!

Did you have a good day? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bounce3.gif

Sue
08-04-2003, 08:21 PM
Twas ok Peta, dont know if that would be a good idea though, just increase the longing I reckon (for me anyways)

When was the last time you got a traffic offence fine, and for what? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shh.gif

Petals
08-04-2003, 08:28 PM
Well, it was about 10 years ago - 72 in a 60 zone - travelling into the Casino for a couple of hours - it WAS an expensive night.

Anyway, pranged our car last night. Trying to be Superwoman and take the trailer home, called in to pick up the hubby and whilst REVERSING, lost sight of the trailer and it was on an angle and went into the side of the car!! What an idiot I was. /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/furious.gif

Sue
08-04-2003, 08:31 PM
You did have a bad night, didnt you? Sorry to hear that. Much damage to the car? Was hubby cranky?

Is that enough questions? hehehehe

Petals
08-04-2003, 08:41 PM
Hubby was great - just concerned about me and how I was feeling (besides he left the handbrake off once and the car rolled into a tree). It is a nice car (Statesman) with now two prang damages!! Ho Hum.

Going to log off now - hubby thinks I am neglecting him. Need some quality time with him and now Rove!! Ha Ha.

Please all take care - catch you next log on time!!

Sue
08-04-2003, 09:09 PM
How old were you when you got your drivers license and what was your first car? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bounce3.gif

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 09:15 PM
16 (International Licence)

Ford XA

What was your favourite car so far (assuming you have owned more than one)??

Sue
08-04-2003, 09:19 PM
Honda Civic.

Have you ever owned a motor bike?

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 10:06 PM
No. Long story, but basically the deal was that Dad bought me my first car as long as I promised not to ever own a motor bike. He did....and I have kept my side too.

Have you ever been in a car accident that was your fault??

Sue
08-04-2003, 10:09 PM
Not anything major, I reversed out of the driveway after putting a cassette into the player and hadnt released my friend had driven in behind me. Smack. Got her good and proper.

Do you like going to markets?

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 10:13 PM
Depends on what type of markets, but in general, yes, provided I have money on me. Window shopping, no.

Do you like shopping??

Sue
08-04-2003, 10:21 PM
No not usually, bit strange for a shelia hey.

When was the last time you had breakfast in bed if ever.

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 10:33 PM
Easy one. Father's Day last year. Scrambled Eggs on Toast

What would be your favourite job??

Sue
08-04-2003, 10:46 PM
Hey guess who got a new job (well title anyways). Does that make you feel rich Greg. That is a hard one for me to answer, I have enjoyed most of my jobs, but I think when I was running a TAB. (best job)

Do you have to work over Easter? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bounce3.gif

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 10:50 PM
Yup. chuffed about the new title. I didnt want to suggest anything to do with management (such as Vice President), but figured Major Investor covered the "investment" in the forum.

No, I have my last night shift the night before Easter Friday, and go back to work the Tuesday after Easter.

Are you working on Anzac Day??

Sue
08-04-2003, 10:54 PM
No I have a cushy office job.

Talking of Easter, do you have a sweet tooth?

Spyone1 (Greg)
08-04-2003, 11:12 PM
Oh, absolutely I do have a sweet toothie!! Chocolates R Us should probably be my middle names.

Has Santa ever brought you EXACTLY what you wanted?? If so, what was it?

Have you ever performed as part of a rock band??

(and I'm going to leave the Xmas present alone...*grin*)

Sue
09-04-2003, 05:44 AM
No, wouldnt inflict that on anyone.

Do you enjoy going out to restaurants?

Morning Greg /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif

Spyone1 (Greg)

Have you ever slept around the clock (24 hours)??

Good morning Sue /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif

Sue
09-04-2003, 05:53 AM
No, not that I can remember anyway.

Have you?

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 06:00 AM
Yup. After working 72 hours straight during Falklands War.

Did you ever see what you thought was a UFO??

Sue
09-04-2003, 06:14 AM
Wow 72 hours? Gheeeesssseee.

Reckon I did see a real one or couple actually. A bigger one then a couple of smaller ones that merged into the bigger one. Then took off. Mother ship me thinks, and I was stone cold sober too.

Anything good on the calender for your weekend?

/webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yawn.gif /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yawn.gif still tired *me*

Any idea what happened to our live chat thingy /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/approve.gif

Admin1
09-04-2003, 06:22 PM
We are still working on "live chat thingy". Java solutions are the most common, but Windows XP users in particular may have problems with Java.

We will probably register an IRC channel and embed a communicator into the web page.

What is your favourite name??

NP Tanya. Glad you are all in one piece.
How old is the bubby, Sue??

Sue
09-04-2003, 07:11 PM
The baby is my "little darlin computer" Greg, not the other type heaven forbid. Its going well at the moment Tanya, but I keep losing sites for periods of time and then get them back. I think maybe something to do with international sats or something, dunno. This area I am in doesnt even like mobile phones that much. Ah well thats my whinge, not much I can do.

Do you have a mobile?

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 07:22 PM

Sue
09-04-2003, 07:23 PM

Sue
09-04-2003, 07:24 PM

Yes I love my coffee?

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 07:40 PM
Bought some new clothes today, actually.

What is your most embarrassing moment?? (this will getcha).

Sue
09-04-2003, 07:51 PM
Not telling, was toooo embarrassing but can I tell you of a friend of mine in my home town. She was in her 30's so a mature woman and had a thing going with a mutual friends brother. They're thing was always trying to out embarrass each other.

This is long sorry. Anyway she sees him at the public phone box as she comes out ot the post office, and he hadnt seen her (he had his back to her). She raced down and put her arms around him from behind and goes for the big grab. Anyway the guy spins around and it wasnt him. She almost died of embarrassment. The stranger almost had heart failure as well.

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 07:56 PM
LOL.
Mine involved No 1. son. Me and friend were admiring a certain young ladies mammary glands within hearing of said son. About 30 seconds later (in a crowded room) son walks up beneath young lady and in loud voice exclaims "But what is so nice about her tits, Dad??"
Nearly melted thru the floor.

Where do you usually go for take-away food??

Sue
09-04-2003, 08:01 PM
Pizza. yummmmmm

Need a new word game Greg for this thread, running out of questions. Any suggestions? *my question* hehehehe

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 08:06 PM
How about a mythological thread?? something different anyway!!

Thor

Sue
09-04-2003, 08:13 PM
Ok what about him? What do I have to do?

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 08:59 PM
*sigh*.....

It is still a word association thread, but you have to respond with something mythological.....

Or is that a bit too obscure for this forum?? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sue
09-04-2003, 09:03 PM
Hmmmmmm excuse me Sir but what is mythological.....

only joshing

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 09:07 PM
okay, so you didn't like that one.

Hmmmmm. No power.... that could cause compiling problems. *sob*.

Does it happen often??

Admin1
09-04-2003, 09:36 PM
It happens reasonably frequently around here. Weipa is a mining community (soon to be declared a "dry" community too by the looks of it) and the mine power needs take priority over consumer needs.

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 09:38 PM
That figures. Commerce before People.

Now where have I heard that before???

and about as useful too.

Why can't they just do their thing from home via conference calls or something?? /webboard/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke.gif

Yes. Good idea. They could behave like a big bunch of kids at home, only this time nobody would have to witness the witless.

Spyone1 (Greg)
09-04-2003, 10:03 PM
Think of all the money we would save. Travel costs, accommodation costs, meal costs....

AND if we made them pay for the calls, I am willing to bet the fights and silly comments would cease to exist.

Admin1
09-04-2003, 10:04 PM
Eventually they would stop calling each other entirely. Then the country would suddenly start running smoothly!
