If your games are running slowly or graphics are not displaying properly, it is most often caused by out of date video drivers or an older version of DirectX being installed on your system. This page will show you how to upgrade DirectX. Click here if you need to update your system graphics drivers as well or instead. Upgrading both will often yield the best results. These instructions may not apply to Windows Vista.

Updating DirectX.

The first thing to do is find out what version of DirectX your computer is running.

STEP 1: Click on START, then click on RUN (as shown below)

STEP 2: Type in dxdiag (as shown below) and then press the OK button:

STEP 3: Look on your screen where the arrows indicate in the image below. If the version of DirectX shown there is lower than version 9.0c then you need to upgrade.

STEP 4: If you need to upgrade, simply click here to visit Microsoft and update your computer now online. The DirectX redist is recommended for those users that do not have an internet connection during installation or need to reinstall the DirectX 9.0c core runtime
